Medigap, or Medicare Supplement Insurance is designed to help fill the gaps in coverage that Original Medicare (Parts A&B) does not cover. Offered by private insurance companies, Medigap, Policies help pay for out-of-pocket costs such as deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance.
Each medigap plan is standardized and identified by letters, ( e.g Plan A, Plan F, Plan G) ensuring that similar plans offer the same basic benefits, regardless of the insurer. Medigap policies do not include coverage for prescription drugs, stand alone Part D policy must accompany a supplement plan.
